Knott Mill Fair, Manchester, 1841
This annual pleasure fair commenced in Camp Field and the adjacent streets, on Monday last. The collection of shows is said to be more numerous and of better quality than usual. Wombwell, with the last of the traveling menageries, occupies a considerable space; and there is the usual assortment of performances by strolling companies, of giants, dwarfs, etc. The pickpockets appear to stand in awe of the police; there were only a few cases heard at the Borough Court yesterday morning, and those chiefly thefts of pocket handkerchiefs.
